Hadith 2497

Abdullah bin Amr reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying “No warlike party will go out to fight in Allaah’s path and gain booty without getting beforehand two-thirds of their rewards in the next world and one-third (of their reward) will remain. And if they do not gain booty, they will get their rewards in full.

Benefits and Issues:
Whatever blessings a person is using in this world,
he is using them from his share of the Hereafter.
This is why ‘Abdur-Rahman ibn ‘Awf radi Allahu anhu used to say that, to the extent that we have been given this world,
we fear that perhaps the reward for our good deeds is being given to us in this world.
(Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Jana’iz, Hadith: 1275) Khabbab radi Allahu anhu stated that some of us have had our fruits ripen here,
and now they are benefiting from them.
(Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Jana’iz, Hadith: 1276) ‘Umar radi Allahu anhu abandoned the use of delicious foods and drinks.
And in the Hereafter, it will be said especially to the disbelievers:
( ) “You have exhausted your good things in your worldly life and enjoyed them, so today you will be recompensed with the punishment of humiliation because you used to be arrogant upon the earth without right and because you used to defiantly disobey.” (al-Ahqaf, 20)
You have already obtained your pleasures in the life of this world and benefited from them, so today you will be given the punishment of humiliation.
This is the recompense for your unjust arrogance on the earth and your wickedness.
