حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيٌّ ، حَدَّثَنَا غَيْلَانُ ،عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ الزِّمَّانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، زَادَ قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، " أَرَأَيْتَ صَوْمَ يَوْمِ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَيَوْمِ الْخَمِيسِ ؟ قَالَ : فِيهِ وُلِدْتُ وَفِيهِ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيَّ الْقُرْآنُ " .
The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Abu Qatadah through a different chain of narrators. This version add: He said: Messenger of Allah, tell me about keeping fast on Monday and Thursday. He said: On it I was born, and on it the Quran was first revealed to me.

Benefits and Issues:
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is a mercy to the worlds. The day of his blessed birth is a day of blessing and happiness. However, the legislated and Sunnah way to express this happiness and to show gratitude to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is only that one should fast on this day... How far removed is this blessed Sunnah from the reprehensible innovation of the people of innovation, who, after a whole year, observe it with utmost extravagance.
(Allahumma arina al-haqqa haqqan warzuqna ittiba'ahu wa arina al-batila batilan warzuqna ijtinabahu)
