Hadith 2423

Narrated Al-Laith: When it was mentioned to Ibn Shihab (al-Zuhri) that fasting on Saturday had been prohibited, he would say: This is a Himsi tradition.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
In the aforementioned (Hadith: 2421), in the chain of narration of Abdullah bin Busr, Thawr bin Yazid and Khalid bin Ma‘dad are from the people of Hims.
And in this phrase, there is an indication towards its weakness, but the research of Allamah al-Albani rahimahullah is commendable. In Irwa’ al-Ghalil (vol. 3, p. 124, hadith: 960), he states: This hadith has three chains of narration, and all three are authentic.
In light of this, such criticism is excessive.
Similarly, the statement of Imam Malik (mentioned below) that this is a lie is far from correct.
