Narrated Ahmad bin Abd al-Wahid: On the authority of Abu Mushir. He said: Saeed, that is, Ibn Abd al-Aziz said: The meaning of the word sirraha is "in the beginning of it (the month)"

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
The statements of Imam Awza’i and Ibn Abd al-Aziz are anomalous.
(Weak Sunan Abi Dawud) Thus, the meanings of sarar or sar (of the month) as “middle” or “last” are both correct, but “last” is the most correct.
Because its meaning is “concealment.”
And at the end of the lunar month, the moon remains hidden (concealed) for one or two days.
In this regard, the meaning of “last” is preferred.
