Benefits and Issues:
➊ The slave woman from whom her master has children is called "umm walad."
➋ There is a difference of opinion regarding the waiting period (‘iddah) of an umm walad whose master passes away.
According to some, her ‘iddah is three menstrual cycles, and according to others, it is one menstrual cycle.
However, those who consider this narration authentic hold that her ‘iddah is also four months and ten days.
