Narrated Ismail bin Ibrahim: On the authority of a man from Banu Sulaim: I asked the Prophet ﷺ to marry Umamah daughter of Abd al-Muttalib to me. So he married her to me without reciting the tashahhud (i. e. the sermon for marriage).
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
This narration is weak, but it is established from other narrations that marriage (nikah) is permissible even without a sermon (khutbah), because for marriage, only the permission of the guardian (wali), the presence of two witnesses, and the offer and acceptance (ijab wa qubul) are necessary.
