Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet ﷺ said: If any one of you greets me, Allah returns my soul to me and I respond to the greeting.

Benefits and Issues:
This hadith, according to our esteemed researcher Shaykh Zubair Ali Zai (rahimahullah), is weak.
However, according to most hadith scholars, it is of the level of hasan.
It is accepted among the hadith scholars.
Various interpretations have been made regarding the soul being returned, but ultimately, this pertains to the life of the Barzakh (intermediate state).
It is completely incorrect to compare it to worldly life.
Moreover, this is among the mutashabihat (ambiguous matters).
We are unable to provide any satisfactory detail or explanation.
And Allah knows best the reality of the matter. (And above every possessor of knowledge is one [more] knowing) (Yusuf: 76)
