Hadith 1943

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُخْبِرٌ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ ، " أَنَّهَا رَمَتِ الْجَمْرَةَ ، قُلْتُ : إِنَّا رَمَيْنَا الْجَمْرَةَ بِلَيْلٍ ، قَالَتْ : إِنَّا كُنَّا نَصْنَعُ هَذَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Ata said: A reporter reported to me about Asma that she threw pebbles at the jamrah at night. I said: We threw pebbles (at the jamrah) at night. She said: We used to do so in the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

1943. Commentary: In the aforementioned two narrations, the stoning (rami) before sunrise is mentioned. Regarding this, the author of ‘Awn writes that this is only for women, children, and their servants who are there to serve them. Apart from them, on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, it is not permissible for anyone to perform the stoning before the break of dawn, as is established from authentic ahadith. And Allah knows best.
