Narrated Ali ibn Abu Talib: The Prophet then took up Usamah behind him (on the camel), and drove the camel at a quick pace. The people were beating their camels right and left, but he did not pay attention to them; he was saying: O people, preserve a quiet demeanour. He proceeded (from Arafat) when the sun had set.

1922. Commentary: In most copies of Sunan Abi Dawud, the wording (la yaltafit ilayhim) appears. However, in "Badh al-Majhud," Mawlana Khalil Ahmad Saharanpuri has written that in Jami‘ al-Tirmidhi, Musnad Ahmad, and in some chains of Sunan al-Bayhaqi, the word "la" is not present. In this way, there remains no difficulty. However, in the chain of Musnad Ahmad, (la yaltafit) is indeed found. Meanwhile, ‘Allamah al-Albani rahimahullah has written in "Sahih Sunan Abi Dawud" that this is not preserved (ghayr mahfuz). The wording (la yaltafit) itself is correct, meaning: you were turning towards the people.
