حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، قَالَ : وَهِمَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فِي تَزْوِيجِ مَيْمُونَةَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ .
Saeed bin Al Musayyib said There is a misunderstanding on the part of Ibn Abbas about the marriage (of the Prophet) with Maimunah while he was in the sacred state.

1845. Commentary: Although this last narration is technically disconnected (muqtu‘) in its chain of transmission, it is nevertheless based on reality, namely that Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) was mistaken. Maymunah (radi Allahu anha) was herself the person involved in the incident, and her own statement is that both of them were in a state of permissibility (halal). The basis for this misunderstanding is most likely that, since this event occurred immediately after coming out of the state of ihram, and Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) was also quite young at the time, he thought that the marriage had taken place while they were still in ihram. And Allah knows best.
