Nafi said Ibn Umar felt cold and said Throw a garment over me, Nafi. I threw a hooded cloak over him. Thereupon he said Are you throwing this over me when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden those who are in sacred state to wear it?
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
1828. Commentary: It is prohibited to wear a business (tailored) garment regularly; however, there is no harm in simply draping it. But the piety (taqwa) of Ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) and his intense zeal for following the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was such that he expressed avoidance even from draping it in the general sense.
