Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
1767. Commentary:
➊ If a knife is drawn across the throat of an animal to slaughter it, this is technically called "dhabh" (ذبح). If it is drawn at the "labah" (the soft area near the collarbone below the throat), this is called "nahr" (نحر). It is preferable to perform nahr for a camel and dhabh for a goat. For a cow, both terms have been used, but generally, it is considered as dhabh, as has been mentioned previously in ahadith 1750 and 1751.
➋ In this, the method of performing nahr on a camel has been described. One should try to perform nahr on a camel according to this method.
