1؎ : Here, "Aal" refers to the pure wives (azwaj mutahharat), radi Allahu anhunna.
2؎ : In one cow or camel, up to seven people can share. In this Hajj, there would be seven wives with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, or, from the wording of Bukhari and Muslim «ضحى» (of sacrifice), it is understood that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam slaughtered it not as a hady (sacrificial animal for Hajj) but as a qurbani (ritual sacrifice), so he slaughtered a cow on behalf of his entire household.

Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
1750. Commentary: ➊ In this hadith, "Aal Muhammad" refers to the purified wives of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). ➋ If a husband offers the sacrifice (udhiyah/qurbani) on behalf of his wife and children, it is permissible. ➌ No matter how many they are, one sacrifice is sufficient on behalf of all of them, as long as the children are living with the father.
