Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
Just as we desire that Allah Ta’ala grant us sustenance without measure, in the same way we should continue to give charity (sadaqah) without counting, because the recompense of actions is according to their likeness. In this hadith, the mention of Allah Ta’ala “counting” is in the sense of correspondence (tashakul), otherwise Allah Ta’ala is free of any need to count. Without counting, He knows everything. In reality, here “counting” refers to giving less, because only a small amount is counted; a large amount is given without measure. It should be remembered that this refers to voluntary charity (nafl sadaqah), otherwise obligatory charities (fardh sadaqah) are given after calculation, and that calculation has itself been prescribed by the Shari’ah.
