Hadith 1659

The above mentioned tradition has also been transmitted by Abu Hurairah through a different chain of narrators in a similar manner from the Prophet ﷺ. This version adds after the words “does not pay what is due on them” in the description of the camels the words “ One thing which is due being to milk them when they come down to drink water. ”

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
1659. Commentary: On the day of watering, the needy come with hope, expecting that they will receive something from the milking of the animals on that day. Milking before that day is a sign of miserliness and stinginess, and a means of depriving the poor. Therefore, it is blameworthy. That is, on the day of bringing water, one should milk the animals and present it as a gift to the local residents and other passing travelers. This act is recommended and desirable (mustahabb wa mandub), as has been clarified in the following narration by Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu.
