Hadith 1645

Narrated Abdullah ibn Masud: The Prophet ﷺ said: If one who is afflicted with poverty refers it to me, his poverty will not be brought to an end; but if one refers it to Allah, He will soon give him sufficiency, either by a speedy death or by a sufficiency which comes later.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
1645. Commentary: A believer should present his needs and difficulties only before that Being who is in need of none, and who is, in every respect, al-Ghani (the Self-Sufficient) and al-Mughni (the Enricher). How far can people assist anyone? Today there is one need, tomorrow another will arise. Therefore, one should always ask only Allah. In the life of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), there are supplications related to all matters, whether minor or major. These should be made a safeguard for oneself and a daily practice. The highest resolve (azimah) is that a person does not ask anything from anyone, as has been mentioned above in the teachings of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and the biography of the Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in). However, the world is a place of means (dar al-asbab). It is permissible to ask people for ordinary needs. But those matters which are beyond apparent means should be asked only from Allah. Asking such things from other than Allah is shirk (associating partners with Allah).

Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation:
1:
That is, if a person mentions his neediness and helplessness to people and stretches out his hand before them, then such a person's need will never truly be fulfilled. And even if it is temporarily fulfilled, then even more severe needs will arise before him, which will not be easy for him to handle.

2:
Since he exercised patience, Allah Ta'ala will grant him sustenance in this world, or He will reward him in the Hereafter. It is understood from this that in times of need and necessity, one should turn to Allah instead of people.
