1؎: When Khaybar was conquered, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) made an agreement with the Jews that they would continue to cultivate their fields, but half of the produce would be given to the Muslims. Therefore, Abdullah ibn Rawahah (radi Allahu anhu) used to go at the time of every harvest and estimate the dates, and then, after the crop was gathered, the amount was collected from them according to that estimation.

1606. Commentary: The chain of narration of this report is weak, but it is established as authentic through other evidences. For example, further on (Book of Sales, Chapter on Estimation, Hadith 3415), there is the statement of Jabir radi Allahu anhu. After the region of Khaybar was conquered, its lands and orchards remained with the Jews as sharecroppers (muzara‘ah). According to the agreement, half of the produce was taken from them. And Abdullah ibn Rawahah radi Allahu anhu used to perform the duty of estimating the fruits.

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: The Prophet ﷺ used to send Abdullah ibn Rawahah (to Khaybar), and he would assess the amount of dates when they began to ripen before they were eaten (by the Jews). He would then give choice to the Jews that they have them (on their possession) by that assessment or could assign to them (Muslims) by that assignment, so that the (amount of) zakat could be calculated before the fruit became eatable and distributed (among the people).

Benefits and Issues: From the mentioned narration and other authentic ahadith stated above, it is established that Abdullah bin Rawahah radi Allahu anhu was an expert in this field. And that, according to a just and equitable procedure, the produce was distributed.
