Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet ﷺ said: If anyone continually asks pardon, Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress, and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide for him from where he did not reckon.

1518. Commentary: This narration is weak in its chain of transmission. However, the importance and virtue of seeking forgiveness (istighfar) is established from the Qur’an and authentic ahadith. Therefore, frequent seeking of forgiveness is the practice of every person of piety. In the Noble Qur’an it is stated:
➋ 3]

Whoever adopts the taqwa (fear and consciousness) of Allah, Allah creates for him a way out from difficulty, and provides for him from where he does not even imagine. When a believer who follows the Sunnah has istighfar, he has no need for any unseen hand or any innovative (bid‘ah) practice. If one is afflicted by constriction in provision or overwhelmed by the worries and anxieties of the world, then let him seek forgiveness—his situation will be eased, and he will be delivered from grief and worry. Allah the Exalted has said:
➓ 12]

Seek forgiveness from Allah; indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send down upon you abundant rain (thus, drought and hardship will be removed and abundance will be attained), and He will help you with wealth and children, and He will grant you gardens and rivers.

Commentary:
Benefits and Issues:
The mentioned narration is weak in its chain of transmission; however, the importance and virtue of repentance and seeking forgiveness (tawbah and istighfar) are established from other ahadith.
In addition, Prophet Nuh (alayhis salam) advised his people, saying:
"Seek forgiveness from your Lord (and repent),
He is indeed Most Forgiving.
He will send down upon you abundant rain from the sky, and He will increase you in wealth and children, and He will grant you gardens and He will grant you rivers."
From this it is understood that seeking forgiveness (istighfar), along with being a means for the forgiveness of sins, is also a means for the resolution of worldly difficulties and the attainment of worldly blessings.
