Narrated Al-Mustawrid ibn Shaddad: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rubbing his toes with his little finger when he performed ablution.

Benefits and Issues: It is understood that one should also perform khilal (passing the fingers through) of the toes so that there remains no possibility of any area remaining dry.

´It was narrated that Mustawarid bin Shaddad said:` "I saw the Messenger of Allah performing ablution, and he ran his little finger between his toes." (Sahih) Another chain with similar wording.

Commentary: Sometimes, due to water not reaching properly between the fingers of the hands and feet, some areas remain dry; therefore, one should perform khilal (passing the fingers through each other) of them. The mention of khilal of the fingers of the hands is coming in the next hadith.
