Hadith 140

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : "إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ أَحَدُكُمْ ، فَلْيَجْعَلْ فِي أَنْفِهِ مَاءً ثُمَّ لِيَنْثُرْ " .
Abu Hurairah reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When any of you performs ablution, he should snuff up water in his nose and eject mucus.

Both Hammam ibn Yahya and Amir al-Ahwal used to become confused,
so it is possible that in this narration, one of them became confused and narrated "three" instead of "two."
