Hadith 1289

Narrated Nuaym ibn Hammar: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Allah, the Exalted, says: Son of Adam, do not be helpless in performing four rak'ahs for Me at the beginning of the day: I will supply what you need till the end of it.

1289. Commentary:
Explanation: The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was honored with "jawami‘ al-kalim" (concise yet comprehensive speech). In your sallallahu alayhi wa sallam statement, if "the beginning of the day" refers to the break of dawn, then there are four units (rak‘ahs) in the morning prayer (Salat al-Fajr). And its meaning will be in accordance with that hadith in which it is stated: "Whoever performs the morning prayer has come under Allah’s protection."
If by this is meant the beginning of the day as sunrise, then it contains encouragement for the forenoon prayer (Salat al-Duha).
