Narrated Abu Dharr: The Prophet ﷺ as saying: In the morning alms are due for every bone in man's body. His salutation to everyone he meets is alms, his enjoining good is alms, his forbidding what is evil is alms, the removal of harmful thing from the way is alms, to have sexual intercourse with one's wife if alms, and two rak'ahs which one prays in the Duha serve instead of that. Abu Dawud said: The tradition narrated by 'Abbad is more perfect (than the version narrated by Musaddad). Musaddad did not mention in his version "the command (of good) and the prohibition (of evil)". Instead, he added in his version saying: "Such and such. " Ibn Ma'na added in his version: "They (the people) said: Messenger of Allah, how is that one of us fulfills his desire and still there are alms for him (i. e. is rewarded)? He replied: What do you think if you had unlawful sexual intercourse, would he not have been a sinner ?
Brief Explanation
1؎: There is a difference in the narrations regarding the number of rak‘ahs (units) of the Duha prayer; two, four, eight, and up to twelve have been mentioned. The correct view in this matter is that the difference in narrations should be understood as allowance (flexibility), and one may perform as many as he is able to. With the distinction that up to eight rak‘ahs are mentioned in hadiths describing the Prophet’s (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) actions, and twelve are mentioned in a hadith of his statement. Some have called this (performing twelve rak‘ahs) an innovation (bid‘ah), but calling it an innovation is incorrect; its being Sunnah is established from multiple ahadith. For details, see (Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 2/405). According to most scholars, the Duha and Ishraq prayers are the same, which are performed when the sun has risen to the height of one or two spears above the horizon, and some people have said that the Duha prayer is performed after the Ishraq prayer.
2؎: That is, just as one would be sinful for fulfilling his desire in a forbidden place, why would he not be deserving of reward and recompense for fulfilling it in a lawful place?

1285. Commentary:
The prayer performed immediately after sunrise is called "Ishraq," and the one performed when the sun has risen a bit higher is called "Duha" (forenoon prayer, Chasht). In reality, this is one and the same prayer. Its minimum is two rak‘ahs and its maximum is eight rak‘ahs.

1286. Commentary:
Explanation: These two rak‘ahs suffice for this obligatory charity; from this, it should not be understood that they also suffice in place of the obligatory prayers (fara’id).

➊ Benefits and Issues
In other hadiths, it has been clarified that Allah, the Exalted, has granted human beings three hundred and sixty (360) joints. One should reflect on what a tremendous blessing the joints are from Allah, the Exalted. If the joints of the bones were taken away, life would become extremely difficult for a person; in matters of eating and drinking, he would be dependent on others; in matters of relieving himself, he would be in need of someone; in walking, moving, sitting, and standing—in short, in everything—he would be waiting for the favor and helping hand of others. But are we expressing gratitude for these great blessings, or are we, day by day, becoming more indebted to Allah, the Exalted? With just two units (rak‘ahs) of prayer, the tax for 360 joints is paid.
