Hadith 1268

حَدَّثَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْبَلْخِيُّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : كَانَ عَطَاءُ بْنُ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ يُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد : وَرَوَى عَبْدُ رَبِّهِ ، وَيَحْيَى ابْنَا سَعِيدٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مُرْسَلًا ، أَنَّ جَدَّهُمْ صَلَّى مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ .
This tradition has also been transmitted by Ata bin Abi Rabah on the authority of Saad bin Saeed through a different chain of narrators. Abu Dawud said: Abd Rabbihi and Yahya bin Saeed also narrated this tradition from the Prophet ﷺ omitting the name of the Companion (mursal). Their grandfather Zaid prayed along with the Prophet ﷺ.

In this, the name of Yahya and Abdur-Rabbah’s grandfather is mentioned as Zayd; this is not correct. Rather, the grandfather’s name is “Qays,” as is stated in Hadith 1267. [شيخ الباني]
