Narrated Uqbah ibn Amir: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Allah is pleased with a shepherd of goats who calls to prayer at the peak of a mountain, and offers prayer, Allah, the Exalted, says: Look at this servant of Mine; he calls to prayer and offers it and he fears Me. So I forgive him and admit him to paradise.

Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
1203. Commentary: ➊ Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, expressing amazement is as befits His Majesty, or it is in the meaning of «يعجب يرضيٰ», i.e., He becomes pleased. «لَيْسَكَمِثْلِهِشَيْءٌ» The Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama‘ah have faith in and affirm all the divine attributes mentioned in the Noble Qur’an and authentic hadiths, without subscribing to any form of anthropomorphism, likening, figurative interpretation, or negation. ➋ Imam Abu Dawud has deduced from this hadith that if a lone shepherd can give the adhan (call to prayer) and iqamah (second call to prayer) for his own prayer, then it is also recommended for a traveler to give the adhan and iqamah.

´It was narrated that 'Uqbah bin 'Amir said:` "I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'Your Lord is pleased with a shepherd high in the mountains who calls the Adhan for the prayer and prays. Allah says: 'Look at this slave of Mine; he calls the Adhan and Iqamah for the prayer and fears Me. I have forgiven My slave and admitted him to Paradise.'"

667. Commentary:
➊ That is, it has been decreed that he will go to Paradise; I will admit him to Paradise. Because the matter is definitive, it is mentioned in the past tense.
➋ "He is amazed." Happiness, displeasure, amazement, and mercy, etc., are attributes of Allah, in whatever manner befits His Essence; there is no need to interpret them figuratively. Their mention is common in the Noble Qur’an and the noble hadith. If these words were not appropriate for Allah, they would not have been mentioned in this way. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) knows best about Allah, the Exalted.
