1186. Commentary:
In the previous narrations, the number of bowings (ruku‘) has been mentioned as two, three, or four, and in most of them it is also explicitly stated that this occurred on the day when the son of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Ibrahim alayhis salam, passed away. Therefore, there is an apparent contradiction, and reconciliation does not seem possible. For this reason, the opinion of the scholars of verification (muhaqqiqin) is that preference should be given to the narration with stronger evidence, and preference is given to the narration mentioning two bowings (ruku‘), because it is narrated in the two Sahihs (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim), and especially in Sahih al-Bukhari, whereas the narrations with more than two bowings are found in Sahih Muslim and the Sunan collections. Therefore, these narrations cannot be considered equal to those of the two Sahihs. «والله اعلم»
