Hadith 1089

Saib said: There was no other muadhdhin (pronouncer) of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except Bilal. The narrator then reported the tradition to the same effect.

Brief Explanation
1؎: As for the objection that when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had a group of mu’adhdhins consisting of Bilal, Ibn Umm Maktum, Abu Mahdhurah, and Sa’d al-Qarṭ radi Allahu anhum, then how can it be correct to say that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had no other mu’adhdhin besides Bilal radi Allahu anhu? The answer to this is that for the Friday prayer in the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid Nabawi), the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had no other mu’adhdhin besides Bilal radi Allahu anhu, because it is not transmitted regarding Ibn Umm Maktum radi Allahu anhu that he gave the adhan for Jumu’ah, and Abu Mahdhurah radi Allahu anhu was the mu’adhdhin of Makkah Mukarramah, and Sa’d al-Qarṭ radi Allahu anhu was the mu’adhdhin of Quba.
