Hadith 1047

Narrated Aws ibn Aws: The Prophet ﷺ said: Among the most excellent of your days is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he died, on it the last trumpet will be blown, and on it the shout will be made, so invoke more blessings on me that day, for your blessings will be submitted to me. The people asked: Messenger of Allah, how can it be that our blessings will be submitted to you while your body is decayed? He replied: Allah, the Exalted, has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of Prophets.

1047. Commentary:
➊ The virtue in this day occurring on «نفخه» and «صعقة» is that it will be the occasion of eternal joy for the believers, that is, entry into Paradise, and for the disbelievers, it will be a time of punishment and retribution.
➋ On the best day, the best deed is to send blessings (salat) upon the best of the messengers, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
➌ This life of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is a matter of the Barzakh (intermediate state), the details of which have not been given to us. We have faith in it in a general sense, and we remain silent regarding its specifics and modality, except for that which has been conveyed to us.

1375. Commentary:

➊ Our esteemed researcher has declared the mentioned narration weak in terms of its chain of transmission, whereas other scholars have considered it authentic in terms of its chain. Based on the evidence, their opinion appears closer to correctness. For details, see: [الموسوعة الحدیثیة مسند الإمام أحمد : 86-84/62 ، و إرواہ الغلیل : 35 ، 34/1 ، رقم الحدیث : 4]

➋ Since Friday is the most virtuous day, therefore, the good deed performed on this day is also more virtuous, and sending blessings (salat) — which is a great means of attaining closeness to Allah — becomes even more virtuous on this day. Moreover, sending blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is like a gift that is presented to him. So, how great is its virtue!

➌ “Made unlawful upon the earth” — The questioners meant that after death, the body does not remain, so upon whom should salutations be presented? The meaning of your statement is that they are presented upon my body, because the bodies of the Prophets do not become dust. Alayhim as-salam.

➍ The presentation of blessings and salutations upon you is a matter of the Barzakh (intermediate realm), not that you directly hear or perceive them; rather, the angels convey them to you. The narration about hearing from nearby is not authentic in its chain. The life of the Prophets and martyrs after death is also a Barzakh life, and their Barzakh life is the highest and best. In general, Barzakh life is attained by every deceased person, but “what comparison is there between dust and the pure realm?” The bodies of the Prophets (alayhim as-salam) also remain intact, and the martyrs are given heavenly bodies, but in any case, that life is Barzakh life, not worldly, because they are no longer in the world.
